Portrait
My
hope in photographing your child is to capture something timeless
in his or her eyes, and then to use my skill in the digital
darkroom to turn the image into a piece of art for your family.
I normally come to your home because children are more comfortable
in their own space. I will photograph them extensively so
that I can give you a selection of expressions. You will receive
work prints to tape on your wall and live with for a few days
so that you can choose your favorite. These images are just
work prints, but they have the essential expressions. Click

this portrait. If we haven't captured something you love,
I'll photograph your child over until we have something that
captures your heart.
After
you choose which expression you like best, I work on the print
in the digital darkroom.

The
work that happens at this point is equal or more than what
we've already done. I print each image myself. The final print
is 12x12, on watercolor paper, sepia toned. I sign each print.
Price for these portraits is $450 unframed. Frames and additional
prints can also be provided. |
| Documentary
Sessions
Documentary photography is my passion and my background, both
in my art and my teaching at Duke's
Center for Documentary Studies. I strive to capture real
moments that will reveal the essense of this season of your
lives. Some of these sessions are in a park, with time exploring
nature. Sometimes people prefer that I capture daily life
at home, playing outside, bathtime, precious hugs. These sessions
frequently include documentary style portraits. In other words,
we can use the time however you'd like! My base fee includes
up to two hours with your family. Additional hours can be
added. Click

in someone's home. This shoot is different in that it was
inside the whole time, which is unusual. But it will give
you a flavor for the type of real moments and interaction
I try to document.

When
we are done, I'll deliver a digital slide show put to music,
and you will have a personal website where you can view all
the images. If you want to order any photographs, you can
do that directly through the website. I will fill the orders
through my office and deliver the pictures to you. Session
price is $250 which includes a $50 credit for prints. Additional
hours, if building a Day in the Life, are $100/hour. You can
also  order
a book, which I will design with your favorite images. Hardback
